Special congratulations were given to Fred Wood Brignal who has been awarded an MBE in the New Year’s honour list.  Fred (pictured with his wife Margaret, served as a councillor at all levels of local government having been a Lydd town councillor, a Shepway District Councillor and a Kent County Councillor.

Discussion filmed for 'Inside Out'

Ward councillors Jenny Hollingsbee and Susan Carey have been at a number of local meetings about Highways England’s proposals for  a giant lorry park near Stanford.  On 05 January they took part in a discussion filmed by the BBC for an episode of  ‘Inside Out’

The Lights Are Switched On

Mulled wine and mince pies started the Merry Christmas celebrations at Etchinghill when local councillor Susan Carey performed the official ‘switch on’ of the Christmas tree lights at Etchinghill Village on 29 November, the first Sunday in Advent.

Choral Perforrmance Superb

Councillors Susan Carey and Jan Holben were among the audience on Saturday 28 November at Holy Trinity Church, Folkestone for a performance of Samson by Folkestone Choral Society.

A special ceremony took place on 17 November at the new Folkestone Gurkha Memorial Statue in the Garden of Remembrance in Folkestone.

The opening of Exhibition at St Peters

Conservative councillors were among the guests at the official launch of The Forgotten Wrecks of the First World War at St Peter’s church in Folkestone Harbour on 16 November.

Poppy Appeal Launch

The Royal British Legion launched the annual poppy appeal for Kent on 21 October at County Hall in Maidstone.
