Chancellor George Osborne unveiled a cut in fuel duty by 1p per litre as part of measures to help boost family finances. In addition a fair fuel stabiliser has been introduced to keep prices at the pump under control for hard pressed motorists.
The personal tax allowance is to rise by £630 to £8,105 by April 2012 which will see more than 1 million people taken out of income tax.
A first wave of new enterprise zones have been created with the opportunity to bid for another 11 around the country, including in east Kent. Damian Collins said "I believe we have a strong case for the establishment of an east Kent enterprise zone and this is something that task force established to support people working at the Pfizer site in Sandwich site have been calling for. "It will certainly have my full support".
Major high street banks have also agreed to increase their lending to small businesses by 15% in 2011 to 76 billion with the Government pledging 50,000 extra apprenticeships places over the next 5 years.
